About SRA

The Saudi Arabian Rugby Association (SRA) was established in 2006 under the supervision of the General Presidency of Youth Welfare (GPYW). SRA is the national supporting body for Saudi Arabian regional rugby development and promotion.

Vision

Through establishing the Saudi Rugby Association (SRA), we unite the existing enthusiasm for rugby in the Kingdom.

From this unity, IRB accredited training, coaching and youth development schemes; will grow a national team, a 2016 Saudi Olympic Sevens team, sustainable national club league and supporters fan base.  

Mission

Promote and develop rugby to a national sport in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by creating a solid foundation for competitive club and national teams.  We aim to help secure funding, sponsorship and lend administrative support for regional centres of rugby excellence and development.

SRA Objectives

  1. Create and support centres for rugby excellence across the regions of Saudi Arabia.
  2. Develop a clear player pathway from youth programs to clubs to national team representation through IRB accredited coaching and development codes of practice.
  3. Help create, finance and support a Saudi National 7's Team for the 2016 Olympics.
  4. Provide jobs, training and new career prospects for Saudi youth in rugby associated areas.
  5. Host international invitational matches and regional tournaments to increase the awareness and raise the profile of rugby in the Kingdom.
  6. Help clubs and teams with business development, planning and funding strategies.
  7. Provide opportunity for the underprivileged and/or troubled youth to find camaraderie and increased social interaction through the team sport of rugby.
  8. Provide facility for medical staff and teams in sports injuries, physiotherapy and rehabilitation.

The SRA is a private organization. Surplus revenue will be reinvested in Saudi rugby for the benefit of all SRA associates.
